Jerome Alexander is a master when it comes to teaching women his tried and true techniques of makeup application. Certainly, there is no need to reinvent the wheel when it comes to eyeshadow or foundation application. However, many women find themselves mastering the basics, and then never going beyond that. Getting stuck in a rut with your beauty routine is natural, but you don’t have to stick to the status quo. We’ve compiled four ways to shake up your beauty routine for a fresh new face!
Switch Up Your Lipstick
If you find yourself stuck in the neutral side of things, try switching it up with a bold lip color. This doesn’t mean you need to grab the brightest fuchsia on the block, but a classic red lip or a deep rose are gorgeous editions to your lip game that aren’t so wild and crazy. Our lipstick quad has four solid shades that every woman should own.
Brighten Your Under Eyes
Even if you don’t have the time or skill to commit to a contour, brightening your under eyes is a great way to freshen your face and bring new life to your makeup. Simply apply a cream based concealer (we love CoverAge for its moisturizing properties) that is 1-2 shades lighter than your skin. Apply in a V shape to avoid the reverse-raccoon effect.
Groom Your Brows
Bold brows are big right now, and are a great way to reframe your face and completely change your style. Even if you’ve made some tweezing mistakes you can still emphasize your eyes with fuller more dramatic brows to frame them with. First, brush brows using a spoolie brush (the equivalent of a mascara brush without the mascara) to amplify their volume and discourage any strays. Then, using pencil, shadow, or gel brow color, sweep small strokes in sparse areas to mimic natural hair.
Go Bold with Shadows
Pops of color on your lids allow you play with shades that will emphasize your eye color! Try using a cobalt blue shadow as eyeliner to emphasize your brown eyes, or a soft, purple smoky eye to highlight green eyes. We’ve got a complete list of shades for your eye color to make coordination a cinch.
